In 2016, Aquatherm became the first piping manufacturer to obtain an ISO-compliant, third-party-verified, product-specific Type III Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) in North America. This means Aquatherm has the only piping systems in North America that directly contribute to points under the LEED v4 rating system. Developed in accordance with ISO 14025, ISO 14044, and ISO 14040, Aquatherm’s EPD can be found here.
The white paper examines the process of obtaining an EPD, discusses the company’s newly verified EPD, and shows how Aquatherm polypropylene-random (PP-R) piping provides significant environmental advantages over competing piping materials. It details what the company’s EPD and Life-Cycle Assessment mean to designers, engineers, and building owners. Additionally, the white paper looks at how Aquatherm PP-R products can be used to gain valuable LEED v4 points.
