Unlike many other plastic materials, polypropylene is completely non-toxic, even under full combustion, eliminating the threat of dangers smoke and fumes. And to accommodate local building and fire codes, Aquatherm recommends using a compatible insulation material, which allows the installed systems to meet a Flame Spread Rating of 25 or less and a Smoke Index Rating of 50 or less.
Aquatherm piping systems have been tested with listed insulation materials to meet flame spread and smoke development requirements and are safe to install in return-air plenums and exposed in high-rise construction.
